Zastava M83 .357 Magnum Revolver — Fair Condition — Factory Wood Grips
The Zastava M83 is a .357 Magnum revolver originally designed by Crvena Zastava for export and later issued to Yugoslavian military NCOs and police forces in the late 1980s. This six-shot, double-action revolver features a 4-inch blued barrel, side-opening cylinder, exposed hammer, and a frame-mounted firing pin with an automatic transfer bar safety. Chambered in .357 Magnum, it also fires .38 Special.
Fair Condition — Original Factory Wood Grips
The majority of these revolvers were downgraded from Good condition only because the wood grips are chipped, cracked, or broken. A small handful have a frozen or stiff cylinder release, and another portion have speckled pitting on the barrel and frame.

Unlike modern or delicate replicas that lack drop safety, the M83 utilizes a robust frame-mounted firing pin coupled with an automatic transfer bar safety block. It’s completely safe to carry with all six chambers loaded out in the brush without worrying about an accidental drop discharge.

I ordered the Fair model with original factory wood grips, and it looks awesome. The wood has plenty of honest dings and field scratches, but no structural cracks. It feels incredibly comfortable in the hand, pointing naturally straight at the target face. Perfect addition to my Eastern Bloc collection.

I love the design fusion on this M83—it features a sleek minimalist vent rib that looks a lot like a classic snake gun. Sights are basic iron gutters, but the anti-glare line serrations on top of the barrel make tracking steel torso gongs out at 25 yards highly predictable.

For a sub-$300 magnum wheel gun, you absolutely cannot complain. It arrived with a fair amount of holster wear and minor surface pitting on the cylinder, but mechanically it is completely overbuilt. The frame absorbs hot .357 Magnum recoil beautifully, and firing .38 Special target rounds feels like a breeze.

I checked the timing and alignment immediately after picking it up from my FFL dealer. The lockup stops are large, positive, and engage tightly on every single chamber swing.

It allows you to visually verify the cylinder has live ammo seated at a quick glance without needing to swing the crane open. Highly functional, utilitarian engineering.

The reviews aren’t lying: the double-action pull is an absolute beast, probably around 15 pounds. However, cocking the checkered hammer into single-action drops it down to a crisp, beautiful 4.7 pounds. It snaps cleanly without a hint of mushy creep, turning it into a total laser at the range.
